Is Anyone in this World Color Blind? by Malcolm Reid, Jr.
The world…
Inhabited by billions of people
Seems like each one has a stereotype
Deeply ingrained in their mind, irremovable
Each one brings us backwards
Equality can never be reached with them
Is anyone in this world color blind?
A stereotype is a synecdoche
They say because of my appearance
They know my essence
But this is the farthest possible from the truth
How can they say they know me merely because of how I look?
Is every black gangster?
Is every Asian smart?
Is every Hispanic impoverished?
The simple answer no
But so many of the others think yes
Too many
People's races do not determine their personality
Why should my character be judged by my race?
How can person…
Act black?
Act Asian?
Act white?
Act Mexican?
It's ignorant
How can person act like a skin tone?
It makes no sense
Yet the stereotypes continue
And as they do nothing is gained
Something must change
Something will change
The world…
Inhabited by billions of people
Seems like every one has a stereotype
Deeply ingrained in their mind, irremovable
Each one brings us backwards
Equality can never be reached with them
Is anyone in this world color blind?
