A GREAT BOOKS, GREAT IDEAS, GREAT CONVERSATIONS, DISTANCE-LEARNING UNIVERSITY
The workshop will cover:
- Developing the skills necessary to be an effective discussion leader;
- Crafting question that produce meaning-filled discussions;
- Preparing both fiction and nonfiction selections;
- Listening and following up during discussions, so that various interpretations are thoughtfully considered.
Participants will have the opportunity, in a safe and supportive environment:
- To learn and employ best practices;
- To exercise the skills of leading and particpating in discussions;
- To explore a practical way to critique performance as both leader and participant;
- To ask questions about managing the dynamics of discussion.
Readings to be discussed will be available upon registration. Please read, take notes, develop questions and re-read the materials before the seminar.
