VISION
The Briarcliff Manor Public Library upholds free and equal access to knowledge and information.
MISSION
The mission of the Briarcliff Manor Public Library is to provide state-of-the-art facilities, programs, collections, and information services in a community environment in which residents can meet and interact.
The Library emphasizes:
- Stimulating and supporting children's and young adults' appreciation of reading and learning;
- Meeting the varied interest and intellectual demands of adults
GOALS
The goals of the Briarcliff Manor Public Library are to provide patrons with:
- Space appropriate for library services, programs and activities that foster community interaction.
- Books and materials for recreational and informational reading, viewing, and listening.
- Technology and information literacy service addressing the need for skills related to finding, evaluating, and using information effectively.
- Lifelong learning services for self-directed personal growth and development.
Note: Long Range Plan Committee Members formulated the Vision, Mission, and Goals after studying survey results and focus group notes. They also interviewed friends, neighbors, and residents with whom they came in contact over a one-month period. The question was posed, "What is your vision of a great Library in Briarcliff Manor? - What would draw you and your neighbors to the community Library? " The results of those interviews are apparent in the vision for the Library.
Members also reviewed long-range plans of adjacent libraries and read mission and vision statements of many libraries. American Library Association materials profiling service roles for libraries were studied. |
