Get Books! And Get Started!
There are several different ways to get stories into your home so that you can start reading aloud to your child. Several websites provide free online stories that can be printed to enjoy, or can be read on screen. There are a number of booksellers that focus on providing excellent children's materials. Most importantly, every parent should be aware of the public library in their community, where there are always several children's books to choose from that can borrowed free of charge. At most public libraries, there are also storytimes where parents and children can enjoy being read aloud to. This is an excellent way for your child to be exposed to more reading aloud, as well as a way for parents to learn more about techniques for sharing stories with children.

The link will lead you to a public library finder. Although many fields can be filled out, it is only necessary to type in your zip code, state and/or name of your town in order to find the public library located in your area. Contact information will also be provided for the located library.
NOTE: If your search results in no libraries found, search again using only your state. This will result in a listing of all public libraries in your state so that you can select the most convenient one.
