Parents as Reading Partners Raffle
There are tremendous benefits to be gained from reading aloud to children – even when they are already reading on their own. This is especially true when parents/guardians read aloud to their children. This is because in addition to enabling a more informed view of the world, fostering a healthy imagination, and increasing language and listening skills – it also effectively builds stronger relationships and better communication between parent and child.
Take the Pledge this summer to read aloud to your children; all participating families will be entered into a special raffle to win a gift certificate for a family of four to see a movie at a local cinema.
Every time you read together for a period of 20 minutes you qualify for an additional raffle ticket. Keep track of your reading on paper or online and check into the library to pick up your tickets by August 26, 2010.
