Meet Our New Director, Melinda Greenblatt

Dear Briarcliff Manor Library Users,

I would like to introduce myself and tell you how excited I am to be named as the Library Director of Briarcliff Manor Public Library (BMPL). When I attended graduate school, I studied to become a public librarian, but started my career as a school librarian and the director of a special library devoted to international children’s literature. Most recently, I have worked on major projects to improve school libraries all over New York City, first in the public schools for the Library Power Program and then as the Program Director of Library Connections, in the parochial schools of the Archdiocese of New York. I have always been very active in the American Library Association and I review books for The Horn Book Guide and Kirkus Reviews.

Throughout my professional career, I have worked collaboratively with public libraries, museums and community organizations in New York City. Here in Briarcliff Manor, I hope to build on the excellent connections that the Library already has with you, the larger community, the schools, the libraries of the Westchester Library System and cultural organizations county-wide. I want to work with the library staff, Library Board of Trustees, The Friends of Briarcliff Manor Public Library, Village officials and staff to create an even more vibrant public library and community center that will serve all of our residents and users with new resources, programs and learning opportunities. As technology changes daily, we will do our best to update our materials and services. Now, we can offer you books, e-books from home, newspapers and magazines to read, DVDs and CDs for viewing and listening, computer and internet access, databases (in the library and at home) for personal and academic needs, wireless service and programs for every age group.

I hope that you will use our services, borrow our materials and attend our programs. If you have any suggestions, I hope that you will write to me at, call me at 914-941-7072, ext. 6 or just come and visit me on the second floor of BMPL. I look forward to meeting you this fall.

Melinda Greenblatt
Library Director
